I’m Not A Flake. . .

To all my friends and family, I’d like to apologize.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve skipped out on dinner, canceled dates, and I’ve even left my own grandmother stranded at the airport. And I want you all to know that it’s not because I’m a flake, I just don’t want to drive.

I truly love all of you. But I don’t want to fight traffic. Or sit behind some oblivious driver who mindlessly talks on his cellphone while parked at the green light. I don’t want to drive in the rain. Worry about being late. Stop for gas. Get lost. Give people rides. Drive home at night. Or think that my car isn’t clean enough for other people to sit in.

I know it’s selfish but if you’ve been wondering why you haven’t seen me, it’s because I’ve come to the conclusion that the mental energy that I have to expend to leave my couch far exceeds the benefits that can come from going out.

So I hope you all understand, especially you grandma, I still love you just don’t ask me to go anywhere unless you’re driving.
