God Buys Gas

Prayers for lower gas prices are being answered today, at least in Xenia, Ohio where Pastor Wesley Miller and his Xenia Christian Center will pay 25 cents of the price of every gallon of gas purchased at a local United Dairy Farmers convenience store.

With the average price for a gallon reaching an all time high, and the country slipping into a recession, more people are in need of financial assistance.

Miller says by offering the deal his church can promote it’s Easter services planned for the following weekend. But what Pastor Miller fails to mention is that the amount of money that the church shells out at the pump wil be easily offset by the increased attendance that he hopes the promotion will yield on Easter Sunday.

After all, nobody ever puts quarters in the collection plate.

Which only makes me wonder which is worse, high gas prices or a church trying to bilk it’s congregation?
