And The Fight Continues. . .
In 1997 when Mike Tyson fought Evander Holyfield for the World Heavy Weight Title the only clear cut winner was Don King who represented both fighters and cleared 50 million from the fight. Meanwhile, Holyfield lost an ear and Tyson was suspended from boxing.
In a similar way, the battle going on between Clinton and Obama is like the Tyson - Holyfield fight except that instead of Don King sitting on the sidelines collecting the cash, Senator McCain is sitting waiting to collect the presidency.
With Hilary’s win last night in Pennsylvania it insured that the race for the Democrat nomination will continue to be a long drawn out contest that will only be solved by a decision at the end of the bout.
And the unfortunate part for the democrats is that if they had just put forth a non-controversial lame duck candidate like John Edwards or Bill Richardson, they would have walked right into the White House for the sole reason that the country wanted “change” which is just a nice way of saying that they didn’t want another republican.
But instead the Democratic Party subjected voters to a six-month schoolyard brawl between two polarizing nominees who do nothing but trade personal insults. They are not the party of change. And in many ways are no different then the republicans that they’ve spent the last eight years hating.
So Clinton and Obama can spend the next two months arguing over who is more connected to the people but as far as I’m concerned they are both elitists because one went to Yale Law School and the other went to Harvard.
