Anarchists Support Democrats
The Democratic National Convention had fireworks and Bruce Springsteen and now a week later the Republican National Conventions countered by shooting tear gas and spraying pepper spray at a crowd of protesters that tried to crash the party.
The first assault on the protesters came Monday evening after 5,000 demonstrators marched to the St. Paul convention center as part of an Anti-Poverty rally. Unfortunately the scene turned ugly after a raging group of “anarchists” began to throw park benches into the street and smash car windows.
The second assault came last night when thist time 10,000 protesters marched to the conventions center as part of an anti-war rally. Once again a splinter group of “anarchists” slashed police tires and smashed downtown office building windows.
Among those arrested were several prominent reporters who said that they were “swept up” in the chaos. What was surprising to me was that these anarchists by their very nature hate all systems of government, didn’t protest at the Democratic Convention.
