Here We Go Again

Hot wings, pitchers of beer, screaming fans, bets that make no sense, and the understanding that for the next twenty-two weeks all my weekends will revolve around Sunday football.

And I won’t be alone. There are 32 teams representing 30 cities. It’s the most watched sport in the United States. Which is why today millions of fans will crowd the sports bars across the country, line up on their couches in front of their televisions and watch in anticipation as their teams take the field. Because as fans we are united by the singular hope and dream that this year our team will go all the way.

And for my New York Jets that went 4 and 12 last year, there is the hope that this year will be different. That this year my team will win more games than it loses. That this year they’ll score more touchdowns. Run over defenses. And that newly acquired Brett Farve will play like the legend we know he is.

Today all teams are equal.

The Jets are no worse than the New England Patriots.

No better than the Dallas Cowboys.

Today, Football begins.
