The Week
A lot of things happened this week. Obama and McCain held their final debate. Joe the Plumber emerged into the national spotlight. Sarah Palin finally agreed to be on Saturday Night Live. And David Duchovny was released from sex rehab. But this week’s 365 Award goes to Madonna.
After nearly eight years of marriage, and countless denials of domestic trouble, the singer and her husband Guy Ritchie are calling it a day. According to sources the couple can’t bear to live with the pretence any longer. So they decided to end the charade. Since Madonna and Guy never signed a prenup, Guy could walk away from the marriage with up to 300 million.
Once again I don’t understand the stupidity of celebrities. Madonna is worth over half a billion dollars. She’s spent the last 30 years touring the world. Released countless albums. Married twice before. Has a team of business managers. Lawyers. Trust funds for her children. And yet she didn’t make Guy sign a prenup.
As far I’m concerned I hope she loses it all.
Maybe then, the shear stupidity of her and the countless other celebrities that seem to think that love is a reasonable excuse for avoiding financial responsibilities will end.
