Phantom Response Syndrome
If you haven’t realized it yet, today is daylight savings time. Or maybe you have realized it but you forgot to set your clocks back. So tomorrow morning you’re going to wake up an hour earlier, shower, change, head off to work only to realize that you’re the only one there. Because if you’re like me that’s what happens.
Every year, it’s the same thing. I look at my clock, know that it’s daylight savings time, and then tell myself that I’ll change it later. But of course, later comes and I forget or think that I’ve already changed it. And it doesn’t just happen with setting the clock back. It happens with phone calls, emails, holiday cards from relatives.
I get a message and in my head I formulate a response, but in actuality I never hit send, redial. I just do nothing. Until eventually, I’ve convinced myself that I already responded, but really haven’t.
I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me who suffers from phantom response syndrome. But in case I’m not, this is just a reminder to turn your clocks back.
After all, why waste an extra hour of sleep.
