The Blind Date is Dead

Google Images. Facebook Profiles. Myspace Pages. I spent the better part of last Sunday scouring the Internet looking for a picture of a pastry chef from Long Beach.

It was a blind date. A girl my sister set me up with. I knew nothing about her. But I wanted to know everything. What she looked like? Where she’s originally from? What school she went to? Where she works?

I guess I’m sort of a pre-date stalker. And I don’t think I’m alone. I think the Internet has turned us all into stalkers.

Social networking sites have revolutionized the dating world. They give us everything we need to know about a person before we’ve even met them. Which means that the awkward moments when your expectations don’t meet the reality of the situation are over.

Pretty soon there will be no such thing as a bad blind date.

Blind Dates are Dead.
