Do You Have To Say Goodbye?
I was at a party. I decided I wanted to leave. So I left. I didn’t say goodbye. I didn’t tell anyone. I simply disappeared. Some people call that rude. I think that they’re wrong.
Yes. My mother raised me with manners. Yes. I know that it is polite to say goodbye. But that being said, my friends should know that just because I ditched them, it doesn’t mean that I don’t still love them.
But sometimes, they don’t see it that way. Sometimes, they get offended. But the truth is I shouldn’t have to explain to a room full of people that I’m leaving. Especially because people don’t want an explanation. They want a justification. Almost as if they have the final decision of whether I’m allowed to leave or not. And I don’t want to argue about it. So, I simply left.
And if that makes me a bad friend, then let’s talk about it in the morning.
I’m tired.
I’m going to sleep.
Good Night.

“Manners” not “manors”.
Amen brother!
The way I see it, if it’s a party of six or less, you need to seek out the host and say goodbye. But if it’s a party larger than that, your presence is optional, not mandatory, and you can do whatever the hell you want.
