Girl Dies in Mother’s Handbag
An oversized purse is being blamed for the fatal death of a 5-year-old girl on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
Police say that the accident occured just before noon on Tuesday at the Jimmy Choo store on Lexington Avenue.
According to the police, the young girl climbed inside her mother’s handbag looking for her Sponge Bob Square Pants doll and once inside she became disoriented and lost. Her screams for help could not be heard by her mother who was in the process of trying on a new pair of aqua blue suede sandals with criss-crossed metallic gold leather straps and 4-inch heels.
While the death has been ruled an accident, the police are investigating whether the manufacturer of the oversized handbag has some responsibility in the child’s death.

lack of specific details, (except where the moral is given), police investigating the manufacturer of the handbag, but not the mother? Also, how small was this 5 year old? Most that I know are three or four feet tall. Unless this “purse” was the size of a luggage bag, this story didn’t happen.
Moral of the story: pay more attention to your family than to material objects.
