I Am Big Brother

martinsburg1.jpg

I spend the better part of the day staring at a computer screen, searching the Internet for information, jumping from one website to the next. Sometimes it’s for work. Sometimes it’s just because I’m bored and have nothing better to do.

If I worked for IBM, General Electric or some other major conglomerate that tracks the Internet usage of their employees I’m sure that I’d be fired by now or at the very least, red flagged and banned from using my computer.

On the list of things I’ve done, I’ve stalked ex-girlfriends, researched blind dates, read strip club reviews, looked for pictures of my next door neighbor naked.

But it wasn’t until I built 365 that I realized that all the sites I look at, including mine, track how I got there.

I am Big Brother. I know where you live. I know the search terms you entered. I know the links that you clicked on.

So for the person who arrived at my website by typing the google query “How to seduce your mother.” I know you live in Martinsburg, West Virginia, population sixteen thousand, and you have some serious emotional issues.

  1. LOL

    ew.

(And it must irk you a bit that your site comes up under those search terms.)

  2. Where is the tracker to find out how people arrived at your site and where they live? That is for real!!

  3. Dude, you weren’t meant to tell anyone about that search. C’mon I paid you good money to hush up. Right, look, fine. If I give you another $20 bucks, promise you won’t tell mom?
