It’s two in the afternoon. It’s one of those perfect California summer days. 80 degree. A slight breeze. Not a cloud in the sky.

I’m still in bed.

Earlier this morning, I tried to wake up. I walked my dog, ate breakfast, and read the paper and after being awake for all of 40 minutes, I came to the conclusion that I wanted to spend my entire day sleeping.

Every hour I transition from my bedroom where I’m curled up under my comforter with the air conditioner cranking at full blast to the living room where I sprawl out in front of my 60 inch HDTV.

So far I’ve watched women’s rowing, men’s rowing, women’s bike racing, and now water polo. Next to Olympic speed walking, I can’t think of any other sports that I want to watch least.

But I’m a patriot.

I support our athletes.

For them I’m willing to spend my entire day in bed.
