The Most Hated Man In New York

Well, he is being called the most hated man in New York, Bernie Madoff was arrested last week for duping investors out of 50 Billion dollars. Which is particularly impressive considering that with the collapse of Bear Sterns, the collapse of Lehman Brothers, and the 100 billion dollar meltdown at AIG, that Madoff, the former head of the Nasdaq Stock Exchange would hold such a notorious title.

In an effort to gage how the community has been affected by Madoff’s pyramid scheme that bankrupted charities across the country and bilked top investors like Steven Spielberg and Jeffrey Katzenberg out of millions, I turned to my friends for their reactions.

“When I make a donation to a charity, I assume that it is being used right away and not being invested with a hedge fund so that it can be double, tripled, or even quadrupled. . . And then for that charity to turn around and ask me for more money every month because they don’t have any more money to help kids with herpes, that’s just wrong. Herpes is a serious disease. One out of every young adult in New York has herpes. Don’t ask me where I got that number but it’s true.”

“Everytime I lose a bet nobody walks up to me with a fist full of cash and tells me everything is going to be okay, double down”

- Proliferatious Matt

“The Crisis might have affected a lot of people, but not in Darrien, Ct because there are no Jews.”

- The Chief

“Things are so bad, mom has to go work the pole again. I just hope she’s limber.”

- Boston Dave

“My fat girlfriend isn’t so much fun now that she’s broke.”
