The Week
A lot of things happened this week. Hilary Clinton swallowed her pride. Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination to be the party’s presidential candidate. The U.S. Open kicked off. And the 2008 college football season is officially underway. But of all the stories to break this week, it’s Senator John McCain who wins this weeks 365 Award for picking Alaska Governor Sarah Palin for his Vice Presidential Running Mate.
There are 18 million voters who supported Hilary Clinton. Certainly, a large percentage of which were women. It doesn’t take a genius to see that McCain picked governor Palin to capitalize on those voter who have not yet committed to Barack. Meanwhile Palin has only been governor for two years and up until McCain selected her as his running mate he had only met her twice in his entire life. Her selection is nothing more than a cheap political stunt.
Which is sad. Because you’d like to think that an election is about more than trying to win at all costs. You’d like to think that it’s about putting the two most qualified people forward. The two people that you legitimately think and believe can not only run this country but also represent it.

I like when you say “certainly”.
